Photo: Rock wall built by dad before and after dementia. The left side is haphazard with goopy mortar but the right is beautiful with honeycomb rocks stacked in aesthetic order

This wall was built by Dad both before and after dementia.

Yep, it's all rather gloomy-doomy as our favorite vampire slayer might say, but against our foe dementia: We will win!

Be Brave. Live."
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (BvTS) with Sarah Michelle Gellar:

"The Gift." Season 5, Episode 22

Howdy! It's Buffy from Texas. Am neither scientist nor soothsayer (and suck as a vampire slayer) but have chosen to write about fighting dementia after watching too many families and friends suffer and die from Alzheimer's Disease.

Right now, many smarties ("Scoobies") are learning how to slay the dementia monsters through scientific research.

Sometimes, between COVID-19 and all global struggles, it feels like we are living in a TV reality show starring Buffy the Vampire Slayer (BtVS) characters. During this journey, would recommend watching both: Buffy and its spinoff series, Angel, for creature comforts and quotable inspiration. Consider these prequels as metaphors to the fight against chaos as well kick-ass TV.

Today, if I don't fight, then am likely to die from dementia based upon own family history although, like many life events, it's uncertain. May these pages serve as a wise tome along with Buffyverse wisdom to help illuminate the abyss.

By helping each other, we can each change how the story goes before our soundtrack swells to: The End.

"Going through the motions. Losing all my drive. I can't even see, if this is really me, and I just want to be: Alive!"
